We recognize how "the human heart is heavy and hardened. God must give man a new heart... It is in discovering the greatness of God's love that our heart is shaken by the horror and weight of sin and begins to fear offending God by sin and being separated from him. The human heart is converted by looking upon him whom our sins have pierced" (CCC #1432). Thus what a gift the Sacrament of Reconciliation is.
"We are still in our 'earthly tent,' subject to suffering, illness, and death. This new life as a child of God can be weakened and even lost by sin. The Lord Jesus Christ, physician of our souls and bodies, who forgave the sins of the paralytic and restored him to bodily health, has willed that his Church continue, in the power of the Holy Spirit, his work of healing and salvation, even among her own members. This is the purpose of the two sacraments of healing" (CCC # 1420-1421), including the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Regular Confession Times
At Resurrection, we offer the Sacrament regularly, every Tuesday through Saturday. For specific days and times, please refer to the footer of the website (green section at the bottom of the website) or see the "Mass Times/Confession" button of the homepage. Fr. Steve also schedules confession by appointment here. There are also other opportunities during our bimonthly Healing Encounters, during Men's and Women's Nights of Adoration, and on other special occasions. Please contact the parish office if you have other questions about regular confessions.
Students at Resurrection School are prepared through the school to receive First Reconciliation in 2nd Grade. They prepare for the Sacrament (and for First Holy Communion) in the classroom, through our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, and they have the opportunity to go on a retreat before their Sacraments.
At Resurrection, parents are given the opportunity to go to Confession along side their children as they have their First Reconciliation. It is a special opportunity for our families to grow in faith and holiness together.
If you are adult looking for information on First Reconciliation, please visit our our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) page for more information.
