"In the Eucharist, we receive Jesus Christ - body, blood, soul, and divinity. This Sacrament is the source and summit of our Christian life. Christ gives us in the Eucharist the pledge of glory with him. Participation in the Holy Sacrifice identifies us with his Heart, sustains our strength along the pilgrimage of this life, makes us long for eternal life, and unites us even now to the Church in heaven, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and all the saints" (CCC #1419).

First Holy Communion, the Sacrament where we receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time, is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation which "lay the foundation of the Christian life...The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the Sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity" (CCC #1212).

Mass & Adoration
At the Church of the Resurrection, we offer Mass almost daily.  Mass is offered Ad Orientem, facing away from the people, and we offer kneelers at the foot of the Sanctuary (in lieu of a communion rail) so that parishioners may receive the Eucharist kneeling and on the tongue should they so desire.  For specific Mass days and times, please refer to the footer of the website (green section at the bottom of the website) or see the "Mass Times/Confession" button of the homepage.  We also offer Adoration regularly.  Please visit the Adoration page for more information.  If you have any questions, please contact the parish office.

First Holy Communion Preparation
At the Church of the Resurrection, we do not offer formal religious education classes for children to prepare for First Holy Communion.

Children who attend Resurrection School are prepared in second grade through the school to receive their First Holy Communion.  The students participate in our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd First Communion program, and they attend a First Communion retreat prior to receiving the Sacrament.

Parishioners with children who are homeschooled or attend public or other schools should contact Susan Bartold at (517) 482-4749, or send her a message below.  The preparation for these families happens in the home, using the Faith & Life series.  Homeschool and students in other schools will also attend the First Communion retreat prior to receiving the Sacrament.

If you are an adult seeking First Holy Communion, please visit our our Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) page for more information.
